1. The sf-b901b has side braking pads. I don't know if it makes any difference. I have heard that with the braking pad on top, you get less squeaking. I have been using spin bikes for a long time now and I will tell you that the heavier the flywheel, the more fluid you ride will be (more life like...). I love mine. Have not had any issues yet and I use it 3 times a week (45 minute workouts). Good luck!
